Highlights Role of Academia in Food Systems Reform at UN Summit.

Haque Bhuiyan, Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU),
participated as a panelist at a high-level side event during the 2nd UN Food
Systems Summit Stocktake (UNFSS+4), held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 27 to 29
July 2025.
The event, titled “Scope
of Investment for Transformation Towards and Equitable, Resilient, and
Nutrition-Sensitive Food System: Evidence & Action” was chaired by Mr. Ali
Imam Majumder, Honourable Advisor, Ministry of Food, Government of Bangladesh.
In his remarks, Professor
Bhuiyan emphasized the role of academia in shaping national food policy through
research, innovation, and foresight modeling. He called for increased
investment in human capital and applied research and development for
sustainable transformation of Bangladesh’s food systems.
The session was
co-organized by the Ministry of Food, FAO, IFAD, GAIN, World Bank, and other
development partners, bringing together policymakers, international agencies,
and financial institutions to align investment priorities with Bangladesh’s
national food systems roadmap.
