University of Lorraine, France Delegation Meets BAU Vice-Chancellor

A four-member delegation from the University of Lorraine, Nancy, France, led by Dr. Thomas Lecocq, Associate Professor, paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Professor Dr. A.K. Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, at his office on Sunday.The delegation included Mr. Yannick Ledore, Engineer in Animal Experimentation, and Ms. Katerina Samiotaki, PhD student, both from the University of Lorraine. Professor Dr. Md. Shahjahan of the Department of Fisheries Management, BAU, was also present during the meeting.
The French research team is currently visiting the Fish Ecophysiology Laboratory of Professor Dr. Md. Shahjahan as part of an ongoing collaborative research project on wild zebrafish. The team arrived at BAU on June 11, 2026, and will remain until June 17, 2026. This marks their second research visit to BAU, following a previous visit in 2022.
During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities for strengthening academic and research cooperation between Bangladesh Agricultural University and the University of Lorraine, France. The discussions focused on the prospects of undertaking joint research initiatives, faculty and student exchanges, and other collaborative academic programs in the future.
