Murdoch University Delegation Pays Courtesy Visit to BAU Vice-Chancellor
A delegation of researchers from Murdoch University, Australia, led by Professor Dr. Richard Bell, Dr. Davina Boyd and Dr. Enamul Haque, have visited the honorable Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Professor Dr. AK Fazlul Haque Bhuiyan, at his office on Sunday (02 August 2026 ).Murdoch University and BAU have been working in close collaboration since 2005 on conservation agriculture practices, agricultural mechanizations, climate smart agriculture, soil health and farmers’ profitability. At BAU, Department of Soil Science, Agricultural Economics, Rural Sociology, Irrigation and Water Management and Agronomy have been collaborating research projects on various aspects of agricultural development with the financial support of ACIAR, Australia. Currently, a project on “Changes in soil and water dynamics and supporting adoption of conservation agriculture in Bangladesh” is in progress, where Prof. Dr. M.M.R. Jahangir is leading Soil Science Team and Prof. Dr. Hansin Jahan Nimmi is leading Socioeconomic Team. The Australian team has explained their research activities in Bangladesh to the Vice-Chancellor of BAU while the Vice-Chancellor cordially welcomed them and discussed about his generous support for any current and future collaborations with the Murdoch University.
So far, Murdoch University and BAU, through their collaborative research, have produced 29 PhDs and more than 50 Master’s graduates. In the current project they have 7 PhD and 6 Master’s students pursuing research work in soil, water and socioeconomic issues.
